SPT Architecture

Abundant natural light, collaborative and creative spaces, a blend of the old with an infusion of modernism; this describes the new office space that SPT Architecture has created in the previous Greyhound Bus Station. Located at 312 S. Broadway, the original 1947 Art Moderne building housed the Santa Fe Trailways Bus Depot. In 1970, the building was modernized into an even more contemporary style and expanded to include the covered concourse area to the south. After purchasing Trailways in 1987, Greyhound Bus occupied the building until 2016. The building remained unoccupied until its recent transformation by SPT Architecture.

From the moment you arrive, SPT Architecture’s new office offers a unique and inviting view. The exterior renovation blends a modern aesthetic with the art deco curves of the previous design, which flows into the interior. Wood framing that previously supported the ceiling, located between the roof trusses, has been repurposed throughout the interior. The workspace features a two-story design studio with surrounding windows that infuse natural light throughout. The renovation exposed the original brick walls, bowstring trusses, and the wooden barrel-vaulted ceiling, which were all incorporated into the new design. Existing design elements, such as a cantilevered concrete balcony and wood trim now seamlessly blend with the modern design elements of glass conference room walls, red polycarbonate panels, geometric ceiling elements, and contemporary finishes. Each design element complements the other to create an optimal work environment for SPT’s staff and clients to enjoy for years to come.
