Project Description:
The renovation of the Wesley Pediatric Emergency Department in the core of the Wesley Medical Center capitalizes on underutilized space to enhance children’s emergency treatment. The renovation expanded the nurse’s station and added 3 patient beds as well as on-call doctors’ suites. The nurse’s station is home to a custom tree canopy ceiling design and colorful backlit acrylic panels. The children’s rooms feature an animal-based wayfinding system, using pictures of animals in addition to room numbers to help navigate the space. Vibrant colors and playful designs create a child-centric and welcoming space that promotes optimism and healing.
